Milestone: Our First User Outreach & A Critical Fix
A major milestone for Modbus Connect this week: our first real-world user reached out, and their feedback led to a critical fix.
Building in public and watching the stats grow is rewarding. But nothing compares to the moment a real-world user reaches out for the first time. It turns a project into a product.
The Journey by the Numbers
Here are a few stats to document this progress milestone. The growth since the end of the year has been encouraging:

Google Search impressions have started to spike significantly in early January, and site traffic shows a healthy jump in unique views over the last two weeks.
The First User Connection
The highlight of the week was receiving the first-ever email from a user. A user named Mark reached out to share that he is testing Modbus Connect as a potential replacement for his 20-year-old copy of ModScan32.
"The graph, however, is graphing the un-cast INT values. Worse, the data logger doesn't respect the FLOAT setting... Why can't I both Graph and Log a 32-bit Float?"
— Mark
Mark identified an issue with how the app was handling 32-bit Float data. While the dashboard was displaying the value correctly (e.g., 28.5), the Graphing tool and the Data Logger were not properly casting the values, reverting instead to raw Integers.
The Fix
Mark's report was incredibly helpful and allowed quick isolation of the issue within the logging and graphing modules.
Fix Now Live
Modbus Connect now properly graphs and logs 32-bit Floats, ensuring data remains consistent across the entire application pipeline.
Looking Ahead to 2026
This journey has been genuinely enjoyable. This first interaction is exactly the reason for building this—to create a modern tool that solves real problems for the industrial automation community.
A full update on the Roadmap for 2026 will be coming soon. There are exciting features in the works.
To Mark and everyone else who has downloaded and tested the software: Thank you for being part of this.
